With the passing of generations and the result of assimilation, invaluable cultural and literary treasures in the Diaspora are in serious jeopardy. The legacies of countless scholars, artists, and writers, continue to be lost because of ignorance, inattention or indifference.
Recognizing the importance of these items for history and future generations, and concurrent with its efforts in enhancing the library’s book collection, the Armenian Cultural Foundation in 2008 initiated its Special Collections project. The purpose of this undertaking is two-fold: to reach out, collect, preserve, and archive the legacies (papers) of noted and prominent stewards of Armenian culture and heritage in the Diaspora, both past and present, and from the United States in particular and make them available for study and research.
As of this date, the ACF Special Collection comprise 18 collections, covering a wide-range of writers, composers, conductors, musicians, poets, community activists, humanitarians and diplomats.
Presented below, alphabetically, are their biographies and the list of their works. Also included are the links to their catalogue, available for the visitors of our website.
